Product Description
Beats Tour delivers sound so big; you would think you had speakers in your ears. Newly developed in-ear speaker technologies reproduce clear natural vocals, detailed highs, and deep powerful bass without distortion. Wired with high-performance Monster Cable, Beats Tour delivers sound performance never before achieved in any earphone. Beats Tour also features the world's first tangle-free earphone cable. While earphones are convenient, taking the time to untangle them is not. Most in-ear headphones simply cut off the low end of your music because they simply can't reproduce low audio frequencies. It took well over three years to develop and fine-tune the technology that makes Beats Tour bass so big, you'll think we put a subwoofer in your head. Dr. Dre would have it no other way.Beats Tour in-ear noise isolation cuts external noise for a better music experience than traditional earbuds. Beats Tour includes five pairs of earbud tips: three pairs of cone tips and two pairs of triple-layered tips for the most comfortable, secure fit that isolates you from unwanted external noise. With Beats Tour, you'll hear everything no matter how loud the rest of the world is. Most earphones don't have the power to play music at the volume some music lovers like us prefer. The large high-efficiency drivers and magnetic technology have been custom engineered to play loud without distortion so you can hear every note. Beats Tour delivers power and clarity that reveals the emotion in your music. The Sound Check feature on your iPod balances playback levels so all your music tracks play at a consistent volume. But if the volume difference between tracks is large enough, ordinary earbuds may not play tracks with Sound Check loud enough. Beats Tour drivers were engineered so you have all the power you need to rock out even with Sound Check on.The Beats Tour cable features Monster's patented magnetic flux tube and Mi

5 out of 5 stars Very Picky and Very Happy   August 30, 2010
Jake Wallace (New York, NY)
I spent many months debating whether or not to spend $150 on these headphones. I care about audio quality, but it was a lot of many, especially if they weren't going to be perfect. Having now owned these for about 3 months I can say that I'm EXTREMELY happy with the purchase. The sound quality is the best I've ever found in ear bud headphones. I've also tried 2 different types of similarly priced Bose ear buds and found that both the sound quality and comfort was much better with the Beats. I use the headphones mostly for dance and electronic music, so the slight bump Beats give to the bass is much appreciated and never distracting, regardless of what type of music I'm listening to. Including many different types of tip attachments makes it easy for anyone to find the right fit. I'm so happy with the headphones that in the last 3 months I've convinced 2 friends to buy them as well and both have been as happy as I am.

My only complaint about the headphones is that they only come with 2 of each tip attachment and if you lose one of the ones you like, you have to call Monster and BUY replacements. For the incredibly high price point, they should really be offering free replacements like Bose does, especially since the tips are tiny pieces of rubber, hardly an expensive thing for them to replace.

Overall, I'd recommend anyone who is on the fence to go ahead and buy them here. If you don't like them, you can return them within 30 days. That said, I would be willing to bet that you will be very happy with your purchase.

Well, I have to admit I bought these for the looks. They are probably the coolest looking buds on the market today. The flat "tangle free" cord was also a good idea. Next to my $59.00 V-Moda earbuds, I can't hear any difference. I have owned at least a dozen pairs of earbuds, and the best were still the Bose. Those met an untimely death, so I decided to try something different. I will sum things up by saying: for the price, these just don't do the job. Go over to eBay and get some (brand new) for around $50. If I spent $150 on these I would be taking them back to the retail store. You may want to try the V-Moda Vibe buds or the Bose earbuds. Both are less expensive if purchased retail. Happy Listening!

2 out of 5 stars Beat a Tour to the "Returns" Counter   August 3, 2010
Eugene F. Fama (Pacific Palisades, CA United States)
These might sound worse than the earbuds that ship with the iPod. Zero soundstage, strident highs, tinny mids, and a big welt on the upper bass frequency that smears into a non-melodic thump, like in a crowded club. I love Dre. He's a terrific producer. I bought these in part because a guy who works with him told me that Dre personally consulted on every stage of development. You wouldn't know it. The usual Monster audio flaws.

Add to this that inserting these things can require a little jogging and turning to find the 'sweet spot.' No problem there; it's true for all insert buds. But in this case the electronics are housed in a flimsy clamshell with a seam running around the diameter. One twist too many and that seam comes apart like a tobacco tin. So inserting them makes them break apart. Maybe if they sounded great I'd try to glue them.

I gave an extra star for "ease of use" because the ribbon wire, if a bit heavy and floppy in the wind, is great. (Also because "Dre's gonna produce my record"...jk!) Seriously, the advantage of ribbon is that you can stuff 'em in your pocket without later spending an hour untangling them. Except you can't, because sticking them in your pocket makes them--you guessed it--fall apart at the seams.

I shelved the Beats and got some Klipsches that sound great, are light and ergonomic, and are...how shall I put this..."seamless."

2 out of 5 stars Weird.   July 30, 2010
Marcus T. Brody (Tampa Bay, FL)
These are pretty weird headphones. I liked the hype and marketing pitch, so I decided to get these. I'm BIG on how my music sounds and how my movies look. I have to get the best of everything. Well, these aren't the best headphones. In fact, I think they sound pretty bad. Something is "off" with them. This is no technical review by any means. I just know when something sounds good and when it doesn't -- and these don't.

The bass is good. The headphones sound better when you have a song with deep bass. The treble is also pretty good with these phones. The mid-range is where these are lost. I've never heard a worse mid-range outside of a $5 headphone. In fact, I own a $5 pair of headphones (purchased here on Amazon) that are comparable in mid-range sound.

I also don't like how these fit in your ear. They gave me about 50 separate attachments for these things, and the only one that sounds good, fits very tight, and is very uncomfortable. Some of the other attachments are more comfortable but they make it sound like you're listening to a pair of dollar store headphones.

I'd steer VERY clear of these headphones. When you pay $134 for these, 75% of it is you paying for Dr. Dre's name. Stick with the safer high-end headphones like Bose.
