The best portable USB power source August 23, 2010 Bob The Builder (Honolulu, HI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought two of the Tekkeon Tekcharge MP 1800 for a trip to China. The product does everything as advertised and more. Just plug your cell phone or other device into the USB outlet on the Tekcharge to charge it. With one Tekcharge, I can recharge a completely depleted a iphone 3GS at least two times. I didn't even need to use the second Tekkeon on an 8 hour flight; one did the job!
Pros: 1) long battery life; much longer (probably 2-3x) than the Mophie juice pack. 2) LED charge indicator on case to indicate level of charge left. 3) fairly compact size. 4) multiple adapters included to charge just about any device (except Nintendo DS).
Cons: No A/C charger included. However, any A/C to USB adapter (such as comes with the iphone) will work to charge it.
Overall, you will be happy with the Tekkeon Tekcharge MP 1800.
Poorly conceived product August 16, 2010 MC (Boston, MA) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
The only reason I can think of people buying this product is because of the marketing and the promises made with the product description by the manufacturer. This is one poorly conceived product.
The product I received did not have the right Samsung Pin to any of my Samsung devices - Samsung Juke or the Samsung Omnia. I thought ok I will at least be able to charge the IPOD Touch. But you can only charge the Ipod if you have the USB cable supplied by Apple. If I need to carry that cable separately, why would I need this charger? I can charge it from my laptop directly. The moment I realized this, I returned this product to Amazon. I saw some other reviews that said the customer service on the website was pretty good. But why would they bother not having the correct charging pin for phones that have been around for more than a year or so.
The one possible use for this product is when you are in a long flight and you want to charge your iPod but you also have run out of juice for your laptop. I am not sure I will be that desperate to charge my iPod.
Great for Geocaching with iPhone 3GS! August 9, 2010 J. Hruby 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This device is a God-send for geocaching with an iPhone 3GS. Only con is that you have a cable attached between the iPhone and the battery pack, but the pro is that you extend the battery life of the iPhone by at least threefold and charge the iPhone at the same time! It's small enough to carry comfortably in a "fanny pack" or pocket, and provides plenty of power. I keep one charged in my geocaching bag, and it's ready for whenever I need a juice boost. I highly reccomend this for geocaching with an iPhone.
Nice, but ad is deceiving. August 6, 2010 Walter J. Eichler (Clintondale, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you look at the above pictures in the ad it shows an AC plug-in adapter, This is not included you must buy one or use some other USB charger. If you do not have a computer or other device that uses a mini-USB or USB charger you will not be able to use this without buying an additional adapter.
Other than the above it seems to work pretty well. Took very little time to charge to green when received. On that charge, I charged a slightly low MP3 player, a pretty well discharged cell phone, and a slightly low GPS and had power left. Not that bad considering that it is smaller than a cigarette pack.
I adapt to the deficiencies of products I buy and will get over the charger problem, but I am not happy about it.
Nice Product, not always compatible w/o additional adaptor purchase. August 2, 2010 T. Garfield (AZ) I purchased the Tekkeon TekCharge MP1800 prior to a recent trip. Although the product is advertised as being compatible with current models of Samsung cell phones, the package does not contain an adapter for the Samsung Alias 2 among the 5 cell phone adapters that are included. The Alias 2 adapter must be ordered from Tekkeon for an additional $5 + shipping. That said, I am otherwise very pleased with the product. It easily charged/powered my Itouch and the built-in flashlight was a big help during after dark trips to the bathroom when I didn't want to disturb other family members. Even after paying the extra 5 bucks for my cell phone's adapter, the price is still lower than many similar products.
